My ancestors uncle, Conrad Michel, was also on this ship. His two nephews, John & Conrad Kern, were on the ship Phoenix that landed the next day. The three of them seemed to have immediately departed for Salisbury, N.C. soon after landing. Michel went back to Germany 10 years later. The Kern brothers stayed and were buried near Salisbury. They were leather tanners. They came from Palantine area of Germany. Would be interested in you have any info about them. Ron

Dear Mrs.Roberts,
I enjoyed reading about your Zumbrum Ancestor so much. As one of my husbands ancestors also came on the BROTHERS to Philadelphia 24 August 1750. He stayed in NJ because he was hired by a farmer , also German, in the area of Cohansy, Cumberland/ Salem Counties, NJ
His name was Johann Adam Mensch, who later changed his name to Adam Minch.
He is burried at Friesburg, Cemetery in NJ.I had never seen this ad for the Brothers. Loved it and will now also display it on his site.
Thank you.

Not knowing much about the paternal side of my bloodline, I love reading about our family. My maiden name is Zumbrun. Born in Dayton, Ohio. I also have a brother, Jeff Zumbrun. Our parents divorced when we were very young. Our father is Donald Levi Zumbrun who never spoke to us about his family.

Our mother said that in the 1970’s, a man claiming to be a relative knocked on the door. He was researching the Zumbrun family. He told our mother a similar story to this article. His story was that in 1756, the ship sank, and the a young Levi Zumbrun survived. Thus, began the family line in the new world.
My mom doesn’t remember the man’s name and he didn’t produce any paperwork that she recalls. Both my are still living in Ohio. I have shared this article with them, my brother, and my son.
Thank you so much for the all the in-depth history that you have done as our past is just as important as our present.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Bridgett Roberts
