Dorothea Zumbrunnen a Pro was the sixth child and third daughter of Landammann Mansuetus Zumbrunnen and Barbara Aschwanden. She married Peter a Pro, a member of an Italian family in Livinen (from the town of Prato) who had migrated north to Uri.
Peter and Dorothea built the Castle A Pro, which still stands. The castle was in the family for nearly 400 years.
Despite their Italian origins, the a Pro family rose to prominence in Uri. Dorothea’s husband Peter became the Landammann of Uri. They have many living descendants today.
