Life Sketch
Johannes Zumbrunnen, (known as der Jungerere; the younger) was the youngest son of Walter Zumbrunnen and Idda von Bramberg. He was likely born in the early- to mid-1400s. His older brother was also named Johannes.
Like his father and brother, Johannes the younger became involved in the civic life of Uri. He was a member of the council of Uri and in 1466 won an appointment to be the landvogt or bailiff of Sargans, where he lived in the majestic Sargans Castle. What would no doubt have been a promising career was cut short when he died in office in Sargans, in 1467. The cause of his death is unknown. He left behind two children, who must have been quite young when he died.
