Hugo David Zumbrunnen was the fifth son of Landammann Mansuetus Zumbrunnen and Barbara Aschwanden.

He was the chief clerk of Uri (known as the landschreiber). He died in 1564, cutting short what may have been a promising career. He is not known to have married or left any heirs.
