Anton Zumbrunnen

Life Sketch
Anton Zumbrunnen was the only known son of Landammann Johann Heinrich Zumbrunnen and Magdalena Reding von Biberegg. He was a mercenary who raised a Swiss regiment in May of 1638, and by 1639 was a captain of the guard in France.

He was involved in a number of battles during the Thirty Years War, which are listed in the Nobiliaire Militaire Suisse. He appears to have died in that war on January 23, 1645. He preceeded his father in death.

He had married to Maria Elisabetha von Beroldingen, a member of the family that controlled the Beroldingen Castle. He left behind three sons and two daughters. One of his daughters, Ana Margarita, married Anton’s second cousin Josue Zumbrunnen.
