Heinrich Zumbrunnen, Ensign

Life Sketch
Heinrich Zumbrunnen was the son of Josue Zumbrunnen and Margareta von Fleckenstein.

He was the church bailiff in Altdorf from 1592-94, and was a member of the council of Uri. He became a mercenary, where he was an ensign in the service of France. He married Maria Jauch, she was of the same family that his aunt Kunigunda Zumbrunnen married into when she married Jakob Jauch.

He died in 1619, and a number of sources say that he died in the Siege of Orleans. There’s a famous Siege of Orleans that involved Joan of Arc, but it occurred in 1428, so Heinrich must have died in some other French conflict near Orleans. He left behind five sons.
